Allan Ackerman

Allan Ackerman

Allan Ackerman is an American magician. He is one of the world’s foremost experts on sleight-of-hand magic and gambling moves with playing cards; he also performs coin magic.

He started doing magic when he was 9 years old, after seeing Doc Tarbell and Jay Marshall perform.

When he was 15, he was completely amazed by Brother John Hamman’s Micro Macro. The seed had been planted.

When he was 18, he started studying under Ed Marlo, until January 1970 when he went into the US Air Force, and studied under Roger Klause from 1970-1971.

He then decided to concentrate solely on close-up magic. In particular card magic, and he got a degree in mathematics to help with his work in card shuffling.

In the 70s, he formed a wonderful working relationship with Paul Harris.

Allan Ackerman has also been a professor of mathematics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has been a semi-professional magician since 1960.

He is the creator of over 250 magical effects, the author of four books, twelve sets of lecture notes, and over twenty DVDs.

Allan has performed in the USA, Mexico, England, France, Italy, and Germany.  He has performed in Las Vegas, at tradeshows, on TV, and has performed over 300 shows at the famed Hollywood Magic Castle.
