Michael Ammar

Michael Ammar

Michael Ammar (born June 25, 1956 in Logan, West Virginia, USA) is one of America's best-known close-up magicians. He is highly regarded in the magic community at large. He is considered "THE" magician's magician. His taste for magic began at an early age. Before long, he had already put on a magic show, complete with doves and even a young assistant. He later met "The Professor" Dai Vernon, who became his mentor. He published his first magic ideas in the 1980s. His signature trick soon became the "Card on Ceiling"; Ammar confides that this trick is a reputation maker, as everyone who sees the card stuck to the ceiling immediately wonders how it got there... what publicity! He performs on numerous TV shows in the USA (in particular for Johnny Carson, David Letterman...), and all over the world (England, France, Canada, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Russia...). He has given private performances at Universal Studios and the Vatican. He performed and coordinated the magical talent at George W. Bush's inauguration banquet. He was the first magician to perform at the "Caesars Magical Empire" at Caesars Palace. He won 1st prize for Close-up at the 1982 FISM in Lausanne. The Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood has awarded him numerous prizes: Close-up Magician of the Year (1981, 1983), Lecturer of the Year (1982, 1983), Parlour Magician of the Year (1985, 1990). Michael Ammar has produced over 40 magic videos and DVDs, as well as numerous books and magazines. His teaching skills and simple yet ingenious ideas are widely recognized. In 1999, Magic Magazine included him in its list of the 100 most influential magicians of the 20th century.
