The spectator chooses a card that no one, not even himself, looks at; this card is set aside. The spectator now cuts the deck wherever he wishes, and three piles of cards are formed from the cut half. The top card of each pile is shown; these are any three indifferent cards. These cards should give some indication of the spectator's card... but they don't! The spectator's card is displayed, and now the random cards have transformed to form a four of a kind with the spectator's card! To buy an ordinary deck of cards click here.

A very cute routine to entertain your friends, while fooling them! The spectator chooses a card, and puts it back into the deck. The magician explains that he's going to turn the cards over one by one, and the spectator will have to remain "Poker Face" when he sees his card... but he'll betray himself by having an imperceptible sign on his face; this is indeed how the magician finds the card. He then explains that the spectator can do the same trick himself, even if he has no notion of morphopsychology. The roles are then reversed: the magician becomes a spectator, and vice versa. And indeed, the spectator "guesses" the chosen card, but in a completely unexpected and funny way! This trick allows you to have a special interactive moment with your audience. This trick is a classic of card magic. It was created by Al Leech in 1950, and popularized by Frank Garcia under the name "Chicago Opener". The magician causes a freely-selected card to change its back color (say from red to blue), which is then tabled. The performer then claims to be able to repeat the effect and a second card is selected. This second attempt fails - no second blue card is found - but the performer makes good by turning over the first blue card and showing that it has now magically changed into the second selection. One of the favorite themes of magicians. First, you make four coins appear under four cards. These coins are then placed in the four corners of your magic mat, each covered by one of the cards. Magically, the coins gather one by one in one of the corners. This effect is performed a second time, and at the end, when all four coins are under the same card, they mysteriously return to their original position - a single coin under each of the four cards!
