The magician shows two small packets of four cards; on one side there are four red cards, and on the other side four black cards. Each time he switches one card from one packet to the other, the cards return to their original packets. The effect is repeated several times... and each time, the colored cards end up together! A real miracle! To buy some normal red cards individually click here.

Dai Vernon explained this technique to Howard Hamburg. Dai emphasized that the Optical Move was used as a subtlety, not a trick. For example, one could incorporate the Optical Move in conjunction with a Three Card Monte presentation or within an Oil and Water presentation. To buy a regular deck of cards click here.

The magician shows two small packet of four cards; on one side there are four red cards, and on the other side four black cards. He then swaps a single card from each pack into the other: and mysteriously, as oil and water can't mix, all the black cards are together again, along with the red cards! The effect is repeated several times: now two cards are swapped, then three, then four... and each time, the colored cards are reunited! Amazing! To buy some regular cards click here.

Only one technique used in this trick for multiple effects! You have red cards on one side and black cards on the other. If you insert a red card among the black ones and vice versa, you won't believe it, but a miracle happens: the cards remain separate, with red on one side and black on the other! It's crazy!

Like Dustin Hoffman in "Rain Man", you want to show your exceptional instant memorization skills. After thoroughly shuffling your deck of cards, you announce that you have memorized the position of the red and black cards; but in demonstrating this, you fail miserably! But surprise, you say that half of the cards are red-backed, and the other half are black-backed; and that in truth, the cards have been sorted by their backs!!!
