A ++ version of the trick : Approximately how many? Some cards are ribbon spread on the table. A spectator is invited to guess exactly how many cards there are: there seem to be more than twenty. A coin disappears from the magician's hands, and ends up in the center of the deck... above the spectator's chosen card! The effect is repeated several times... but the last time, the coin is enclosed in a piece of paper, and when it is found in the center of the deck, the four Aces appear! In an interview, Larry Jennings is asked what he thinks is the most impressive trick in Dai Vernon’s repertoire, of whom he was one of the closest friends. Larry Jennings cites and demonstrates this effect, which is a hell of a Tsunami; but he doesn't explain it! Tsunami is a Japanese word that means "tidal wave". It is a trick that will devastate the brains of your audience, whether they are laymen or magicians. The spectator chooses a card, and loses it under extreme laboratory conditions. A classic piece of card magic! After making them appear, the four Aces are clearly introduced in different parts of the deck. The cards are shuffled in all directions, face up and face down. First effect: the magician instantly forms four small piles, each with an Ace on its face! Second effect: the remaining cards are ribbon spread on the table... all the cards are now face down! Third effect: the piles containing the Aces on the face are spread out, revealing the four royal flushes! Larry Jennings proposes to show us a paradox of time! He places four cards (without showing them) in four different pockets. He has a spectator name a four of a kind (for example the 5s), which he takes out of the deck, only to reintroduce them in very different places in the deck. The spectator thinks of a number between 1 and 10. The magician count ten cards, and asks the spectator to recall the card that corresponds to his number. The magician taps the deck... and shows that the card has disappeared! He then asks for a number between 1 and 52... and the chosen card ends up at that number! The magician displays his deck of cards, and eight rather special cards: four of them are blank-faced, and on the face of each of the other four ones, a bumblebee is drawn. One by one, the bumblebees change places with the blank cards, and at the end, the magician strikes the packet of bumblebees... which all end up crushed! The icing on the cake: all the cards in the deck are now shown, and they're all crushed bumblebees! Everything is handed out for examination.
